LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The Humane Society of Northeast Texas and Longview Animal control are considering filing animal cruelty charges after a dog was brought to the facility with an embedded collar, almost reaching the dog's trachea, infection causing swelling up to the head.

Scott Holloway, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Northeast Texas said the dog, Nickolas, has injuries to his body, not particularly indicating the results of fighting, and an ear closed up due to infection.

Holloway said This dog is totally people friendly, gives paw to shake hands on command, grins at you , and has a wonderful personality.

Nickolas was taken to Dr. Spencer where he is being treated.
