DALLAS, Feb. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jenesis Group announced they have awarded a three-year, $2.0 million grant to support the expansion of KIPP Dallas-Fort Worth's (KIPP DFW) high-performing charter school network. This marquee investment represents the single largest award in KIPP DFW's 10-year history. The grant is structured to strategically provide $1.0 million of unrestricted capital to seed the growth campaign, and $1.0 million matching challenge to incentivize prospective donors.
KIPP DFW was established in 2003 with the founding of its flagship middle school, KIPP Truth Academy, currently serving over 375 students in grades 5-8. In August 2013, KIPP DFW opened its first elementary school, KIPP Destiny, under the new growth plan which will serve 560 K-4th grade students by 2017. KIPP DFW will use the funds to propel its growth from two to 10 schools by 2021, educating more than 5,000 students in grades K-12 when fully enrolled at four elementary, four middle, and two high schools.
"KIPP has a proven model for delivering quality education to underserved communities. At Jenesis, we saw an opportunity to catalyze the growth of one of the country's leading charter school networks here in DFW," stated Kim Tanner, Director of Program and Operations at Jenesis.
The Jenesis Group aspires to improve the quality of life for our nation's young people by investing in opportunities for youth and young adults to realize their full potential. KIPP DFW is dedicated to providing quality options to students and families from the most underserved communities so that all children can have the opportunity to lead empowered, choice-filled lives.
"We are excited about our new partnership with Jenesis and the opportunities it presents," said KIPP DFW Executive Director Quinton Vance. "We hope to capitalize on the momentum of this investment to mobilize and engage the philanthropic community's participation in growing our impact in southern Dallas."
