Autopsy results in Kilgore shooting released

GLADEWATER (KYTX) -Preliminary autopsy results in the January 25 death of a 45-year-old Kilgore man is that he died of a shotgun wound to the torso.

James Carson Smith was found dead at a home in the 1100 block of Texas 31 in Kilgore the afternoon of January 25. An autopsy was ordered by Gregg County Justice of the peace Talyna Carlson, and was performed by a Tyler pathologist.

The autopsy also revealed preparations of his heart, ribs and a lung.

According to Gregg County sheriffs deputies, no one has been arrested in the case.

The shooting happened at Smith's home near the intersection of Texas Hwy. 31 and Texas Hwy. 42, about a mile north of downtown Kilgore.
