Early morning fire destroys Smith County home

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: SMITH COUNTY (KYTX) - Fire investigators say a two story wooden home burned to the ground earlier this morning. The Assistant Fire Marshal tells CBS19  the home did not have working smoke detectors.

A mother and her three children got out safely, but they did lose a puppy in the fire.

The Red Springs Fire Department has set up two tragedy funds for the family.

One is at any Southside Bank, and the other is at the United Heritage Credit Union on Broadway and Houston in Tyler. Both are under Mrs. Frances Galindo.

The fire broke out around 5 a.m.

The Smith County Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating, but they believe extra space heaters blew the circuit in the back of the house.
