Police: Drugs stolen in overnight pharmacy burglary

TYLER (KYTX) -

Two men were on the run Monday night after burglarizing the CVS pharmacy on Gentry Parkway nearly 24 hours prior. Police said the burglars stole prescription pills and got away after just a few minutes inside the store.

"We received a burglar alarm for a commercial burglary at CVS about 3:00 a.m. and we had about a two-minute, one-and-a-half minute response time," Tyler Police Officer Don Martin said.

Martin said officers knew as they approached that there were thieves inside thanks to the alarm company. People there were watching the store's surveillance cameras remotely.

Surveillance photos released by police showed one of the two burglars forcing his way into the store's drive-thru window using a crow bar, sliding across a counter and then quickly leaving the store the same way he got in. The man's face was covered with a scarf or bandana. His accomplice was not pictured.

"When we got there, though, they had already gone," Martin said. "So they were in and out pretty quick. One suspect got inside and got some medications. We're still trying to do some inventory to see what was taken."

Police described both burglars as black men. One was wearing a gray hoodie and gray sweat pants. The other was wearing a gray hoodie and black sweat pants. Both had their faces partially covered.
