We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

TYLER (KTYX) - Vocal percussion or the more common term beatboxing isn't something everyone has the talent to do. That's not the case for one UT Tyler business major.

CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey spoke to the beatboxer, and shares his story as he vies for a spot on America's got talent.

Tony Shaw,Is good at what he does. He's a beatboxer. It's a talent not easily picked up but for Shaw it came naturally.

"When I was younger I was making noises and people were like it's called this."

After performances on campus and talent shows, his skill was soon recognized in campus and east Texas news articles. Eventually someone discovered a video of him on the Tyler Morning Telegraph's web page and contacted him.

"I was at work and I got a call and she was like this is such and such from America's got talent and I was like no you're not."

The popular show allows contestants to showcase their talents in a televised contest. Due to show rules, he can't say much about where he's at in the journey on the show.

Modestly he said, "I auditioned and I enjoyed and it was a great  experience. Thank you so much America's Got Talent."

No word yet whether he's been selected for the show based on his beat-boxing skills. But we found out that's not his only talent.

"I also dance and what not. I  love anything that has to do with music."

It may come as a surprise that his beatboxing dancing machine is a little shy, but when it's time to turn on beat, he's ready for it and plans to show off just how talented he is.
