815 W. Queen Street to be demolished

Posted: Updated:

City of Tyler:

TYLER (KYTX) - During today's regularly scheduled Council meeting, the Tyler City Council authorized the asbestos abatement bid and the demolition bid for the 815 W. Queen Street Demolition Project to the lowest bidders, Clean Air Remediation Services in the amount of $27,250 and to Cactus in the amount of $40,630.

The City Council recognizes that, in some neighborhoods, substandard buildings exist which are unfit for human habitation and which create slum and blight conditions.

As part of the City of Tyler's emphasis on neighborhood revitalization, enhancements were made to more aggressively abate problems associated with dilapidated and dangerous substandard structures, many of which are not good candidates for rehabilitation.

"We want people to take pride in their homes and neighborhoods," said Mayor Barbara Bass. "By removing dilapidated structure we can help that to happen."
