ETX man killed in vehicle pedestrian accident

Marshall Police Department:

MARSHALL (KYTX) - A Marshall man attempting to cross the highway was struck and killed Wednesday night in the 1600 block of US Hwy 59 N (East End Blvd).

Marshall Police Officers and Marshall Fire/Ambulance personnel responded to the scene.
Investigation of the scene indicated that a pedestrian attempted to cross US Hwy
59 North headed eastbound and was struck by a 2008 White Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
Utility Vehicle.

The driver was traveling north bound in the outside lane on US HWY 59
when the accident occurred. MPD Accident Reconstruction Specialists were notified and
documented the scene.

The victim, identified as 60-year-old Augustus Leon Waters,  of Marshall was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Clarice Watkins.
An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death. The driver of the vehicle was
uninjured and no charges were filed at the time of the incident.


The investigation is ongoing.
