Court allows accused murderer James Calvert access to notebook computer

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) - Accused murderer James Calvert will have a notebook computer and access to evidence supplied through the State in order to defend himself at trial.

Calvert asked the County for access to a computer to better prepare himself for the trial.

Thursday the County heard his argument on the request.

An expert was brought in to ensure no contraband files will be transferred to the computer,  and Calvert will not have internet access.

He is accused of killing his ex-wife and kidnapping his son in 2012.
The trial is set to begin October 6th.
