NACOGDOCHES (KYTX) - A Marshall man was taken into custody Thursday after a manhunt was conducted for the subject by Nacogdoches and Angelina County Law enforcement officials. The Nacogdoches County Sheriff Office and the Nacogdoches County Constable Office Precinct 4 responded to Nacalina subdivision yesterday afternoon in reference to a suspicious suspect. Nacalina subdivision is located on Cr. 467 in Etoile, Texas.

Upon arrival in the subdivision, Sheriff and Constable Deputies detained three suspects for questioning after officials found a residence that had been burglarized.  Deputies detained all three suspects in which they were placed into patrol units. While deputies were collecting property that was taken from a residence and hidden in a wooded area, one of the suspects was able to escape from the patrol unit and took off running while he was handcuffed into a wooded area. The suspect managed to get the handcuffs from behind his back to the front of him.

Sheriff JasonBridges stated that more law enforcement was called to the scene to include the Texas Department of Public Safety, Precinct 3 Constable and the Angelina County Sheriff Office. Law Enforcement Officers set up a perimeter around the subdivision and a manhunt for the suspect began. After about an hour the suspect was observed in a wooded area near Lake Sam Rayburn. Officers gave chase and the suspect fled into the water of Lake Sam Rayburn. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and all three suspects were transported to the Sheriff Office.

Sheriff Investigators conducted interviews of all three suspects. During the interview it was determine that the other two suspects had nothing to do with the burglary and they were released.

Timothy Becker was arrested for Burglary of a Habitation a 2nd felony, Escape from Custody a 3rd felony, Criminal Mischief a state jail felony, and evading arrest or detention a class a misdemeanor.  Becker was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail.

Sheriff Bridges stated that Sheriff Deputies and the precinct 4 Constable Office remained on scene for several hours to process the scene and look for evidence. All property that was taken from the residence has been recovered and will be returned to the owner.

Sheriff Bridges stated that all three of these people went to Nacalina Subdivision to look for arrow heads around the lake. Becker wondered off from the other two people and committed the burglary in which he has confessed to Sheriff Investigators.
