Tyler Police urge caution on roads as sleet continues to fall

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) - Tyler Police are urging drivers to stay off the roadways if they do not have to drive because conditions are getting worse.

Officer Don Martin says there have been many reports of tree limbs icing over and falling into roads and power lines across town. He says if you approach an intersection without lights, treat it as a four-way stop. Officers are working to get portable stop signs out to areas that need them now.

Officer Martin also says if you are involved in a one-vehicle accident, or two-vehicle accident with minor damage and no injuries to not call police, but exchange information and file a report with the police department later due to the amount of calls they are receiving.

The City of Tyler has dispatched road crews to begin icing any bridges and overpasses, as of now nothing is closed.
