LONGVIEW (KYTX) - At least 8,600 customers in Gregg County, and nearly 3,000 customers in Upshur County are still without power from the effects of Winter Storm Titan, according to AEP Swepco.

Trees and limbs across Gregg county couldn't deal with the stress from the ice -- and that has affected just about everything and everyone.

Ice blanketed pine needles and tree limbs, leaving many of them to crack, snapping power lines that took out power to at least 20 thousand homes and businesses in the past 24 hours.

Most Longview area schools started two hours late, but kids at Hudson PEP Elementary School had the morning off, after a tree on nearby Gray street snapped power to the campus.

No major injuries have been reported because of the winter storm, but utility crews say it could be tomorrow before some customers have their power restored.
