ETX Traffic stop nets officers 28 pounds of marijuana

From the Gregg County Sheriff's Office:

GREGG CO. (KYTX) - Sheriff Maxey Cerliano and the Gregg County Sheriff's Office are providing information regarding the arrest of thirty year old Jonathan Dewayne Anderson of Garland, Texas.

At about 4:20 PM on Wednesday, March 5th, Gregg County Deputy Tracy Freeman stopped Anderson on Interstate 20 for speeding in his Chrysler PT Cruiser and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, Deputy Freeman located approximately twenty-eight pounds of marijuana with a street value of around $20,000.00. Two loaded handguns were also found in the vehicle.

Anderson was transported to the Gregg County Jail, charged with possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Judge B. H. Jameson set bonds at $50,000. and $10,000. on the charges.
