Juvenile killed in confrontation with police identified

UPDATE: LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A family member has identified the teen killed in a shooting confrontation with Longview Police.

15-year-old Justin Aguilar of Longview was killed in an officer- involved shooting Sunday.

Justin's mother, Melanie Bell, shared a picture with CBS 19 and said her son was an eighth grader at Forest Park Middle School in Longview.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the crime scene and Avalon Ave. remains closed between Hawthorne and Houston Streets. Judging from evidence markers at the scene, as many as 17 shots were fired.


Longview Police say there was a  confrontation with officers, and multiple officers are on paid leave indefinitely.

Investigators say one suspect entered the New Way gas station on Green and Avalon Streets around 6 Sunday evening.

The clerk at the gas station was able to give officers a description of the suspect, and he was found about two blocks away.

Officers say that is where a confrontation between the suspect and officers happened, and the suspect was fatally shot by officers.

Witnesses tell us they heard between 15 and 20 shots fired.

Police say the windows of one of the departments cars was shot out during the incident

Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Arthur Fort ordered an autopsy.
