Update: ETX Teen fatally shot in accidental shooting

UPDATE: The Rains County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from Rains County Road 2130 advising that a teenager had been accidentally shot in the head.

The shooting happened in a bedroom, while the father was in the kitchen of the residence.

A 13 y/o male was hit in the head after a 15 y/o pulled the trigger of a 12 gauge shotgun not realizing that it was loaded. This case appears to have been an accident but it will be investigated thoroughly.

Both teens are students of the Rains Jr High and are very well liked by other students. Any additional information will be forwarded as released.

                                                                                                                                                       

RAINS CO. (KYTX) - Rains County Sheriff Deputies are on the scene of what they are calling at this time an accidental shooting that has left a teen dead.

Officers responded to a 911 call that a person was shot in the head at a residence on County Rd. 2130 near Emory.

Rains County Sheriff David Traylor is expected to release more information later today.

Names are being withheld at this time.
