CHEROKEE COUNTY (KYTX)- On 03-11-2014 the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation along with the assistance of Rusk Police Department apprehended and arrested four of the seven individuals indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on February 26, 2014. 

The remaining three were already incarcerated in the Cherokee County Jail at the time and subsequently served the Federal arrest warrant.

The indictment resulted from a lengthy investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Police Department. 

The defendants on the Federal indictment are:

            Eric Scott Smart  30 yoa male

            Steven Ray Davis  42 yoa male

            Michael Wayne Christopher  52 yoa male

            Jimmy Royce Stafford, aka "Jimmy Loven"  28 yoa male

            Karl Dwayne Underwood  23 yoa male

            Jimmie Chance Guillen  23 yoa male

            Darren Michael Massey  20 yoa male

 

are from a federal grand jury sealed 6-count indictment charging the seven individuals with multiple counts of federal drug and firearms violations.

(Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is not releasing photos of the Federal defendants at this time)

At the time of the Federal arrests, three State level search warrants were prepared and presented to District Judge Bascom Bentley.  These search warrants yielded over 100 grams of Methamphetamine, numerous firearms and cash seizures. 

During the arrest and search warrants two additional subjects were arrested on State level charges.

            Xavier Lang  22 yoa male            Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon   Felony 3

                                                                        Bond set at $15,000  -  Released on bond

            Rachel Myers  17 yoa female      Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  Misdemeanor C

                                                                        Fine set at $307.00 – Paid fine and released

Justice of the Peace, Precinct One, Judge Brenda Dominy arraigned both subjects.
