TYLER (KYTX) - There's a lot of locally-owned restaurants and clothing shops in Tyler, but what you don't see a lot of are breweries. Beer lovers can now rejoice since there's one in Tyler.

CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey takes us inside the True Vine Brewery's open house.

Frothy beer flows freely from the taps at True Vine Brewery.

For the first time since opening in January, this tiny hometown brewery has opened it's doors to the public. The line stretched out the doors, as employees got the glasses ready for people to have an official taste test of the original Rose City Pale Ale and two new ones: True Culture and Rose from the Dead.

"The beer so far is fresh, painfully fresh," said event goer Tiffany Mercer.

The vision behind True Vine begins with three guys.

"We're glad people are here to support us," said SStephen Lee who is one of the three founders.

"There's a whole cultural shift to locally made and small batch produce, moving away from commercialization," Lee said.

So far, True Vine's Rose City Pale Ale is available at several Tyler locally owned businesses. The True Vine plan is to expand.

Lee said after recognizing the shortage of breweries and seeing how many people enjoy a nice cold one...opening a locally owned brewery was the thing to do.

Mercer said, "Local breweries are always gonna make something better because the people care about what you care about and it comes from where you're growing up."

Despite the line she said, local brew is the way to go.

"I think it's a lot easier to be positive when you have a good beer in your hands," Lee said.

True vine owners say, they have some new plans for the future. Now that the grand opening is over, they hope to open their doors each month for tap room hours. After that, getting it's other flavors out to the public.
