Palestine domestic dispute leaves one dead, one hospitalized

PALESTINE (KYTX) - A Palestine woman who was shot four times by her estranged ex-husband remains in critical conation at a Tyler Hospital.

Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor tells CBS 19 the couple was divorced for some time.

32-year-old Nicole Lynn Guerrero had just recently filed a protective order against 32-year-old Octoavio Guerrero Garcia. It was served to him March 24, 2014.

Sheriff Taylor said Nicole was shot four times when Garcia forced his way into her home Friday and began firing shots.

The couple the began wrestling over the gun, and Nicole was able to retrieve it and shot Garcia twice.
She then grabbed her young child and got in Garcia's truck and drove herself 200 yards to a neighbor's yard where she passed out on the porch. The neighbor took the child, and called an ambulance.

She was airlifted to Tyler. Garcia died from his wounds a short time later at Palestine Regional Hospital.
The shooting remains under investigation
