Update: Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton passes away

UPDATE: (KYTX) - Funeral Services for Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton have been set.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 7, 2014 at 1:30 pm at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler

Visitation will be held Sunday April 6, 2014 at 4pm - 7pm at Loyd James funeral Home in Tyler.

(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A brave firefighter, a joker and a friend to all he met passed away this morning after a lengthy battle with cancer. 

Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton died this morning, his longtime Assistant Fire Marshal Connie McCoy-Wasson said. 

Seaton has been a well-liked fire marshal for the county for more than a decade and fought for firefighters across the county and state.
