(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - A naked man is in custody and en route to a local hospital after Tyler police wrestled him into a police car just moments ago.

Tyler Police Public Information Officer Don Martin said he was the first officer on the scene.

"I saw a naked man trying to jump out in front of cars on (Highway) 155 between Sunnybrook and Walton," he said.

Martin said he was not armed with a Tazer, so he waited for backup, using his vehicle to keep traffic away from the man.

"I did not approach him until I had backup there," he said.

Martin said it took five officers to get the man on the ground to handcuff him and then into a patrol car.

"We are still trying to identify him because he wasn't carrying any identification," he said.
