UPDATE: DIANA, UPSHUR COUNTY (KYTX) - Two 14-year-old male juveniles have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 17-year-old Jacob Michael Johnson who was found dead in his car in the Diana Community.

The Upshur County Sheriff's office says preliminary autopsy reports indicate the cause of death was two gunshot wounds to the head.

The investigation is still ongoing and more arrest are possible in the case.

A teenage boy found shot to death inside a car in the Diana community in east Upshur County has been identified as 17-year-old Jacob Johnson.

Investigators haven't released much information in this case -- other than saying they are investigating it as a homicide.

CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey found out...this tragedy is shocking for such a small town.

On the heavily wooded road, Sego Lilly in Upshur county... A 17 year old boy took his last breath...

"He's 17, he had a whole life ahead of him," said Danny Tate who lives near where the body was found.

Johnson --a former student at New Diana High School-- was found shot to death sitting inside a car.

"He's so young, and it is a close knit, you know Diana's really small so something like hat to happen is gonna' be talked about for a while," said Tate.

Johnson was found after Upshur County law enforcement went to check out an suspicious vehicle call. Around 10:30 Sunday night, they found Johnson inside a car parked by an oil rig.

Tate lives in one of the few homes in the block.

"We were laying in bed and we heard two gunshots go off, so we're out in the country and we hear that all the time so we thought nothing of it."

Tate said it wasn't until later that he found out someone was dead. He says having two children and knowing someone was killed so close to home is unsettling.

"It's really dark over there so, but yeah it's a quiet street, not a lot of houses out here, so you know it's kinda strange."

Tate said, his children are too  young to really understand what's going on, but as a parent, he can imagine what Johnson's family is going through.

"I hope they find them and I hope they do justice."

Upshur county investigators haven't released much information --since the case is still on-going, but they're investigating it as a homicide. So far -- no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named.

(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) GILMER - The Upshur County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old white male who was found dead in his vehicle in the Diana community late Sunday night, authorities said.

The victim was identified as Jacob Johnson of Diana, who withdrew from New Diana School in October, according to a school spokeswoman.

No arrests had been made as of late Monday afternoon, said Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd.

The man died under suspicious circumstances, but not from suicide, said Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter, who ordered an autopsy. The Sheriff's Office issued a news release saying the "case is being investigated as a homicide."

The vehicle was parked beside Sego Lily Road in eastern Upshur County, said Potter, who said he did not know the circumstances under which the body was discovered. He said he pronounced the man dead at the scene at 3 a.m. Monday.

The Tyler Paper learned that the body was found sometime before 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Sheriff's Office said deputies "responded to a suspicious vehicle call" in the Diana area, and that upon arrival, "they found a male subject dead from a gun shot wound." The news release said the investigation was ongoing and that the office would issue an update "as more information becomes available."

Byrd said he could not discuss details of the case because it's an "ongoing investigation."

Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd was not immediately available for comment today on the incident.
