East Texas man arrested after assault family violence charge following wife's death

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) - A Gun Barrel City man is being booked into the Henderson County jail, after being indicted this week on an assault and family violence charge following the death of his wife.

District Attorney Matt Bingham said a Smith County Grand Jury indicted 52-year-old Kelly Gage on the assault charge that carries 25 years to life in prison if Gage is convicted and sentenced.

Smith County investigators initially said Kelly's wife 48-year-old Patti McHugh Gage, of Whitehouse died November 30, 2011 from injuries she sustained from a fall, but further investigation revealed it appeared she was beaten.

Gage had been out on bond since October 2012.
