We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

HOUSTON (KHOU) --  Air Force One landed at Bush Intercontinental Airport Wednesday afternoon, carrying President Barack Obama and a group of Democratic congressional leaders for a high-dollar fundraiser in a River Oaks mansion.

Under bright sunshine on an uncharacteristically cool Houston day, the president and first lady were welcomed by a small group of well-wishers, including former President George H.W. Bush.

President Obama, accompanied by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, will attend a fundraiser at the home of a prominent donor.  Tickets for the event start at $16,200 for individuals and cost as much as $64,800 for couples.

Democrats in Houston have long groused about fundraisers like this,  with prominent national party leaders dropping into the city and draining away campaign cash that otherwise might have gone to Texas political races.

The president plans to stay in Houston overnight, traveling to Austin on Thursday for a summit on the 1964 Civil Rights Act at the LBJ Presidential Library.

Several downtown streets will be closed until the Obamas depart on Thursday morning, including Dallas at Smith, Smith at Dallas, Smith at Jefferson, and Brazos at Jefferson. There will also be no access to Jefferson Street from Interstate-45 South and no access to Pease Street from I-45 North.

METRO says some bus routes will be affected by this and will be detoured, so passengers should plan on longer travel times.
