(TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - GILMER- The names of seven young women who will vie for the title of "Queen Yam" of next October's 77th annual East Texas Yamboree have been announced by the Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce.

The queen will be selected in a ticket-selling contest which runs from June 9-20. The Yamboree, which annually draws thousands to the city, is set Oct. 15-18.

The candidates, representing local civic clubs, will sell vouchers for the Queen's Coronation at the Gilmer Civic Center, and tickets to the annual Yamboree Barn Dance at the Trinity Street Gym.

They and their sponsoring clubs include Bayley Noel LeGrande, Beta Sigma Phi; Savanna Nicole Jenkins, Bluebonnet Club; Erica Shavon Wesley, Iris Garden Club; Peyton Nicole Carter, Kiwanis Club of Gilmer; Jaden Brook Green, Gilmer Lions Club; Lauren Haylee Jones, Gilmer Rotary Club; and Alexis Marie Williams, 20th Century Club.

Coronation vouchers are $15, and will be turned in when the buyer purchases reserved seat tickets. Reserved tickets will be $10 for auditorium and $5 for retractable seats with voucher, or $25 for auditorium and $20 for retractable without vouchers.
