Stargazers treated to a stunning "Blood Moon"

Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - The "Blood Moon" swept across the sky -- starting around 2 Tuesday morning.

It was visible across North America. In a total lunar eclipse, the moon gets a red sheen as it passes behind the earth's shadow. Pretty rare we see something as unique as this and it lasted a little over an hour. If you missed it overnight, you have three more opportunities in six-month intervals ending in September 2015 to catch it.
