DPS offers $13,000 reward for Spring, Texas sex offender

The Texas Department of Public Safety has offered a cash reward information leading to the capture of Juan Carlos Pena, 49, of Spring Texas.  The reward is good if the tip comes in before the end of the month.

Pena is a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender.  He has a violent criminal past and is wanted for parole violation and failure to register as a sex offender.

A news release from the DPS says all tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Pena has ties to the McAllen and Houston areas as well as Reynosa, Mexico; and his last known address was in Spring, Texas. Pena may occasionally cross the border between Reynosa and McAllen. He has been known to work in computer-related jobs. Pena's criminal history includes burglary, assault, DWI and aggravated robbery.

Pena is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds. His tattoos include "Yolanda My Love" on his right wrist; a unicorn and "Charlie" on his upper left arm; and a skull and eagle on his upper back. He also has scars on his right ankle and abdomen.

Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in four different ways:

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
  • Text the letters DPS - followed by your tip - to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
  • Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
  • Submit a Facebook tip at http://www.facebook.com/texas10mostwanted by clicking the "SUBMIT A TIP" link (under the "About" section).

Do not attempt to apprehend Pena; he considered armed and dangerous.
