Health Alert: Researchers Question Helmet Therapy

(CBS) - Helmet therapy is a popular treatment option for babies with flat heads, but a new study finds the gear is not really effective. Researchers in the Netherlands found by age two, the skulls of babies who wore the helmets weren't significantly better than the skulls of babies who did not receive treatment for the condition.  One in five infants develops a flat head as a result of sleeping on their backs.

(CBS) - A new government report finds up to 40% of annual deaths from each of the five leading causes of death are preventable. The five leading causes of death in the US are heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory diseases, stroke and unintentional injuries. The CDC estimates modified behavior -- such as quitting smoking, and changing your diet -- could prevent hundreds of thousands of those deaths every year.

(CBS) - New guidelines from the American Heart Association say stroke survivors should control their blood pressure, cholesterol and weight and exercise regularly to prevent another stroke.
