UPDATE: Medical Examiner's Identified Burned Body on CR 495

UPDATE: SMITH COUNTY (KYTX)- Using dental records, the medical examiner’s office has positively identified the victim found after a house fire in the 11000 block of County Road 495 as Ryan T. Wells, 36, of Tyler.

The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.





UPDATE SMITH COUNTY (KYTX)- Investigators with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office have discovered the cause of death for the victim found on Monday, May 5, 2014 after Lindale firefighters responded to a house fire in the 11000 block of County Road 495.

According the Medical Examiner’s report, the cause of death is smoke inhalation and thermal burns. At this time, the dental records of the victim have also been sent to the Medical Examiner’s office for comparison to make a positive identification of the victim.

The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.








SMITH CO (KYTX) - Multiple law enforcement agencies responded Tuesday morning to a home located at 11710 County Rd. 495 in Northwest Smith County after a burned body was found in a shed behind the home.
At 11:51 p.m. on May 5, the Smith County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received several 911 calls reporting a blaze in the 11000 block of County Road 495. Units from the Lindale fire department responded

Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith says the body is that of a male, and appears to be a resident of the home.

Smith also said evidence found at the scene leads investigators to believe the death is suspicious, and nothing is being ruled out at this time.

The victim's body was discovered last night by Lindale firefighters who responded to the blaze.

The body has been sent to Dallas for a positive identification and cause of death.
 
The Texas Rangers are also on the scene.
