Four dead in fire at Florida mansion owned by former tennis star

TAMPA, Florida (CBS 10 NEWS)  -- A community is mourning the loss of four people after a fatal fire in an affluent neighborhood in Tampa.

The home is owned by pro tennis player James Blake. Authorities touched base with him, and he was not at the home when the fire broke out. A neighbor heard an explosion early Wednesday morning and called 911.

Deputies haven't identified the bodies yet, but neighbors 10 News spoke with say they are fearing the worst. Real estate documents show a family of four - the Campbells - had rented the house.

A devastated neighbor described them as "the nicest people you'll ever meet." The neighbor added the family hasn't been seen since Tuesday. "He moved in last year. We've been friends since then. We went to the gym last night, said bye, [and] he went home."

Sky 10 flew over the scene as news crews were kept back, out of the gated community. People inside described the scene from the ground: "A lot of fire units, probably 20-30 fire units, lots of police people, investigators."

The 6,000-square-foot house continued to burn for hours on Wednesday, challenging firefighters and investigators.

Deputies say, "That's destroying potential evidence of what may have caused the fire. may have led to the deaths, we will be out here for days."

High schoolers went to IHOP - where they say one of the victims loved to go.

So far the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the fire was intentionally set and the bodies found were that of two adults and two teens. It may take days or weeks to positively identify the bodies.
