Longview nursing home says Affordable Care Act pinching profits from two sides

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Administrators at a Longview nursing home say they're feeling the pinch from both sides of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
Today's activity for these two dozen patients at Summer Meadows Nursing Center was grim news from their congressman.
"We knew when Obamacare passed, that it cut $716 billion dollars out of Medicare for the next 10 years," says U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler.

Summer meadows top administrator Greg Sechrist says that cut has meant fewer payments for care to Medicare patients and higher insurance rates for employees. And because some doctors are dropping medicare patients completely, Sechrist says it's shrinking his available pool of doctors.

"You can't just make these massive cuts," Gohmert says, "and get people the care they need."
