Update: Longview woman seriously injured after being struck by vehicle identified

UPDATE: LONGVIEW (KYTX) - The woman struck by a truck Friday on Hwy 31 in Longview has been identified by police as 37-year-old Carla Jean Hiebert of Shreveport.

Hiebert remains hospitalized after she was transported with life-threatening injuries. Her condition is not being released.

Longview Police identify the driver of the truck as 19 year-old Kimberly Renee Hunter of Kilgore.

Officers fault the victim who failed to yield right-of-way to traffic.




Around 12:44 p.m. Friday Longview Police were dispatched to an accident with injuries in the 1700 Block of Hwy 31. A 57 year old female attempted to cross the highway and was struck by a Chevrolet pick-up truck that was traveling southbound.


The truck was merging onto Hwy 31 from Loop 281.


The pedestrian, who failed to yield right of way to traffic, was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.


No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the vehicle who was cooperative with the investigation.
