Police investigate after shots fired into apartment unit

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) - Police are still working to find out who's responsible for firing two shots into a Tyler apartment unit. It happened Thursday night just after 10:00 at the Bullard Creek apartments.

According to data from Tyler police, this particular complex sees a little bit more crime than the other one, Thursday's incident adds to the list.

Police are still looking for the person responsible for firing two shots through a sliding patio window at the apartments. Investigators are still working to find out if the shooting was targeting the people inside specifically or if it was a random attack.

Police haven't said how many people were inside the unite when the shots were fired, only saying no one was hurt.

Police say in this case the victims are lucy. In situations like this, there's little defense when un-expected shots are flying though the walls or windows.

"I would say in any type of drive by shooting or anything like that. That would probably be the best thing to do is take cover get behind something good a solid nature or drop down to the ground," said Don Martin with Tyler Police.

As of right now, no suspect description has been made and it's not clear if the person responsible for the shots got away on foot or in a car.
