Deputies arrest man for taking $3,200 in lawn care equipment near Longview

Released by Gregg County Sheriff's Lt. Kirk Haddix

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Sheriff Maxey Cerliano and the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of 27 year old Moises Penaloza in connection with the theft of over $3200.00 in lawn maintenance equipment.

Just after midnight on this date (May 20th), residents who live near Weber Landscaping on North Fuller Road witnessed two suspicious persons on the landscaping business property and called the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded and learned that two box trailers owned by the landscaping company had been broken into and lawn maintenance equipment valued at over $3200.00 was missing.

The witnesses provided a vehicle description and license number for the suspects. The vehicle was later located by Longview Police on Green Street in Longview.

One of the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot and Penaloza was arrested at the scene. The stolen lawn equipment was recovered inside Penaloza’s vehicle. The investigation continues regarding the second suspect.

According to jail records, Penaloza is also being held on six outstanding warrants for Longview traffic fines totaling more than $1,500. This is his 14th booking into the Gregg County Jail in the past 10 years.
