Update: Two dead in Jasper Co. boating accident identified

UPDATE: JASPER COUNTY (KYTX) - The two people killed in a boating accident on the Angelina River have been identified as 52-year-old Erin Chance, and 39-year-old Charlotte Bowden, both of Fred, TX.

Texas Game Warden Captain Tom Jenkins said the couple was pronounced dead at the scene, and were lone occupants on one of the boats. i

All five passengers of the larger boat -- including two adults and three children -- were thrown from the boat. One person on board sustained non life-threatening leg injuries.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon, when the two boats traveling in opposite directions collided at a curve on the river. According to Jenkins, the larger boat went airborne, flew over the top of the smaller boat and then flipped.

Both people on board the smaller boat were killed.

There were no indications that alcohol was a factor for either party, Jenkins said, but the investigation is ongoing.
