Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt says Atknison was a mentor.

Posted: Updated:
Henry Atkinson, a legendary Judge from 1966-1990, touched many.  The 24 year Judge passed away on Tuesday and current County Judge Bill Stoudt says his legacy will go on for decades. Atkinson was a pioneer for Gregg County helping it turn the corner after the oil boom. Atkinson was the leader in bringing Gregg County an airport, two hospitals, and  remodeling the courthouse.
Judge Stoudt says the professional accomplishments are endless - but he was even greater outside of the courthouse.

"He had this job down pretty good. Me being brand new, I was looking for all the input I could get regarding people who had been here before. Henry brought a lot of experience, and a lot of wisdom to me as the new County Judge."  - Judge Bill Stoudt, Gregg County Judge

Services for Atkinson are set for Monday, 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Longview. Visitation will be Sunday, 3 to 5 at Radar Funereal Home.
