(KYTX) --  It may not be so bad for recent graduates trying to break into the workforce. We have more on the job market outlook and advice on jump starting your career.

"Everyone's searching, everyone's nervous," Kari Bankston, who recently graduated from Mississippi State University, said.

She says while she enjoyed senior year-- there was a nagging reminder. "The whole time you're thinking what am I going to do after this? It's time for the real world," Bankston said.

The job market isn't so bleak, according to the Collegiate Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University. It finds hiring for bachelor's degrees this year is up 7 percent.
Bankston's passion is meteorology, and she explains searching isn't as easy as walking in the door with a resume.

"Everything is online. So it's so important, I believe for your resume to be clear, concise," Bankston said.

Staffing companies agree that one sheet of paper-- is sometimes your one shot.

"Keep it to one page. Make sure you know the skills you have," Lisa Allen, COO of Express Employment Tyler, said.

Express Employment Tyler has made an effort to go to high schools, so those who are entering the workforce know their options.

"There's warehousing, there is light inventory, there is light dispatch. There are a lot of jobs out there where people will entertain high school grads," Allen said.

And for the college grads, it's recommended you have an internship under your belt related to your degree-- to have the best chance at snagging that first job.
