Man arrested in Kilgore shooting

KILGORE (KYTX) – A dispute early Tuesday morning left a Carthage man wounded, and another person jailed for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Kilgore Police report, on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at about 7:07 a.m. officers responded to the 1500 block of Peach St. after a receiving a 911 call someone had shot another person.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered Craig Slayter, 53 years of age, of Kilgore had fired a handgun into a truck parked in front of his residence. The bullet traveled through the door of the vehicle and struck a person identified as Bobby Reid, 43 years of age, of Carthage in the leg.

The incident was the result of a dispute between the two parties. Craig Slayter was arrested and booked into the Kilgore Municipal Jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Felony 2. Mr. Reid was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center Emergency Room Kilgore where he was treated and released with minor injuries.
