Australian university releases an audio clip and other information

(CNN) - Researchers in Australia release an audio clip of a mysterious noise detected deep in the Indian Ocean that could be related to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

The "boom" sound was recorded around the time Flight 370 vanished. The noise was picked up by underwater microphones designed to listen for nuclear explosions. Researchers have been analyzing the very low-frequency sound for weeks -- to see if it might be the plane hitting the water or imploding as it sank.

But they caution there is no definitive evidence, and scientists say the sound's general location doesn't match other information about the missing flight.
