Tyler man sentenced to life in prison for stabbing at night club

TYLER (KYTX) - A man is sentenced to life in prison for an incident that happened last year a a Tyler night club.

Demetrius Kellum, 41 of Tyler was found guilty and charged for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a Smith Co. jury on May 21. 

According to Smith Co. District Attorney Prosecutor Jacob Puttman, Kellum is responsible for the stabbing of 32-year old Windell Williams of Tyler.

It happened at the Banana Tree Club in Tyler in November of 2013 after a dispute between the two men that ended with Kellum pulling knife on Williams. 

At the time of the assault Kellum was on parole for previous murder charges.
