Woman who posed as teenager remains in jail

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - It's been 25 days since we learned of 34-year-old Charity Anne Johnson, who according to police fooled several people into thinking she was 15 years old and enrolled in a Longview private high school.

She's been in the Gregg County Jail on $500 bond, but no one has put up the bail money.

Johnson is charged with failing to identify herself when police asked her who she was.

Kashena Davis works for a local bail bond company. She says charity has called her twice asking for help getting out of jail, even wanting davis to go to her old job at McDonald's and pick up her final paycheck.

More than a half-dozen people have called Davis, at first wanting to post bail for charity, but each one of them has changed their minds.

'They would like to get her out, because they feel she needs some type of mental help, and they feel that, maybe if she stays in there, then maybe the jail time will help her understand what she's done," Davis says.

According to the jail, no dates have been set either for a hearing on Johnson's criminal charge or for her release.
