Tyler man arrested for assault with a deadly weapon

TYLER (KYTX) - Officers were dispatched to a fight in progress in the 1400 block of North Whitten Avenue where at least one gunshot was fired Sunday afternoon.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted witnesses to the incident. Officers determined a black male got into a verbal altercation with another black male. The verbal altercation continued and one of the subjects, identified as Gregory Perry, 28,  went to his residence in the 1400 block of North Whitten Avenue and retrieved a pistol.

Perry threatened to kill the other man and fired one round from the pistol. Officers secured the pistol as evidence. Perry was arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
