Five dead after Las Vegas shootings

LAS VEGAS (CBS NEWS) - Two suspects gunned down two police officers in a pizza parlor Sunday, then ran to a nearby Walmart where they killed a third victim before taking their own lives, police said.

Five people were dead in all. Police said no other suspects were being shot in the bizarre incident.

The violence erupted about 11:30 a.m. at a Cici's restaurant on Nellis Boulevard. Two officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department were eating lunch when a man and woman "came in an immediately engaged the officers with gunfire," said Officer Laura Meltzer, a spokeswoman for the department.

Witnesses in the restaurant said they heard the suspects say, "This is a revolution."

After fatally wounding the officers, the suspects ran to a Walmart kitty-corner to the restaurant. They shot and killed a person near the entrance to the store, than ran inside the Walmart, where they committed suicide, Meltzer sid.

"There was some kind of suicide pact," Deputy Sheriff Kevin McMahill told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Meltzer confirmed two police officers were killed. The Review-Journal said one died at the scene, while the other died later in surgery.

"We express our deepest condolences to everyone who have been affected by this senseless act of violence," the Wal-Mart Corp. said in a statement. "Our store is currently closed. This is still an active investigation and we are working with local police."
