(CBS) - More American's are developing diabetes than ever before. New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows more than 29 million Americans have diabetes, that's up from 26 million in 2010. The government estimates one in four people has diabetes and does not know it. Health experts say these numbers highlight the need to watch your weight and exercise. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (CBS) - Make sure you're getting your fruits and vegetables -- and stay away from the sugar. A healthy diet in early adulthood can lower the chances of developing breast cancer. Researchers in Massachusetts found women who substituted vegetables, chicken or fish for red meat--- at one meal a day--- had a 14% lower risk of breast cancer. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ (CBS) - A team of researchers at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania are working with mice on an injection aimed at permanently reducing cholesterol levels. If successful, scientists believe the breakthrough could one day lower the risk of a heart attack by 40 to 90 percent.
