We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

DALLAS (CSBDFW.COM) - The mother’s group, Texas Moms Demand Action, planned a protest at Wednesday’s Target Corp. Shareholder Meeting in Dallas.

The group is calling the event a “Stroller Jam,” and says a “friendly gathering of moms and strollers” will convene outside the meeting being held at Union Station, 400 South Houston Street.Last week, Moms Demand Action began calling for Target to ban the open carry of guns in its stores, starting an online petition and a social media campaign using the hashtag #OffTarget.

The group reposted pictures of Open Carry Tarrant County members walking with guns in a Mansfield store to drive support for the cause. The pictures were taken and originally posted several months ago to Open Carry Tarrant County’s social media accounts.“Assault rifles and guns don’t belong in the baby aisle, they don’t belong in the toy aisle – and they don’t belong in any aisle of the stores that American moms frequent like Target,” said founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Shannon Watts, in a written statement. “We will continue our call on Target to stand with moms and support the safety and security of our children when we shop in their stores. We support the Second Amendment but people walking through the aisles flaunting their loaded weapons is unacceptable and it’s time for Target, a store that American moms flock to, to follow the lead of Chipotle and Starbucks and prohibit the open carry of firearms.”

In a week, more than 160,000 have signed an online petition asking Target to change its open carry policy.

CBS 11 reached out to Target for a response to the planned protest and received the following response:

“We always respect the rights of our guests to express their opinions. We will continue to listen and take their feedback seriously. However, we don’t have any specific comments on any of the activities that are planned today. As we have previously shared, the safety and security of our guests and team members is our top priority and we follow all local, state and federal laws.

Open Carry Tarrant County also released a statement in response to today’s event, saying in part:

“The gun control debate will not be decided by Target or any other brand. Our fight is at the legislative level and while we strongly oppose their message, we will stand behind their right to express it.”
