Before you know it, fall will be here and it will be time to go back to school.  For parents that means stocking up on notebooks, number two pencils, and back to school clothes, all of which usually take a big chunk out of a family's budget.  So, just how much do parents will pay to send their kids off to school this year?More >>

TYLER (KYTX)- Construction has begun on Loop 323 between South Broadway and Paluxy drive.

The road work was supposed to begin yesterday but weather delayed the project.

Currently there is only one lane of traffic moving eastbound and once the workers finish up here, the construction between Paluxy and Broadway will move to the westbound lanes.

Business owners here in the shopping center near the construction say they weren't notified of the road work and that these next few days may be a big loss for them.

"Well we actually didn't know it was going on until this morning when we were coming to work so there's only one entrance to our center now," Store Manager Hillary Whitten said.

Whitten says the store is going to have to make some changes to keep customers coming in.

"We're just going to try to do some social media, maybe do a sale or something- try to get some traffic in here. There's really not much we can do so we're just going to try to wait it out I guess," Whitten said.

Though it's definitely taking longer to get around, some drivers say it's not all that bad.

"Going to lunch and back took me way longer than I expected but it's given me a chance to work on patience," Driver Debbie Shores said.

If the work isn't completed on friday, workers will be back out here on Monday morning. There is police presence in the area and they are looking out for people not driving safely in the construction zone.

TxDOT is urging drivers to take alternate routes such as Old Jacksonville Highway or County Road 334.

However, construction begins on Old Jacksonville Highway on Monday morning so keep that in mind as you commute to and from work.
