Cause of death released for Whitehouse teen

Posted: Updated:

WHITEHOUSE (KYTX) - Authorities have released the cause of death of a Whitehouse teen whose body was found back in March.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office received notification from Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas that the cause of death for 14-year-old Jacob Hamilton Garrett was mixed drug toxicity. Garrett’s body was found on March 17 on Highway 110 between Whitehouse and Tyler. He was reported missing on February 13th, and was a suspected runaway. The body, ironically enough, was found only about a mile and a half from his home.
