FBI: Illinois kidnapping suspect arrested in southwest Houston

HOUSTON (KHOU) – A 25-year-old kidnapping suspect wanted in Illinois was arrested and a 19-year-old female victim was safely recovered early Saturday in southwest Houston, federal investigators said.

According to the FBI, Eduardo Guerro Cortez was arrested by agents and Houston police without incident around 2:30 a.m. in the 6200 block of Gulfton.

Cortez also faces charges in the state of Illinois stemming from an aggravated battery on June 11. That is when the victim, Monica Ramirez, was said to be kidnapped from Market Place Mall in Champaign, Ill,according to WCIA.

FBI personnel in Springfield, Ill. were assisting the lead agency in the kidnapping, the Champaign Police Department.
