Baylor Gets Ready to Welcome Largest Freshman Class Ever

Posted: Updated:
(KCEN) -- The university in Waco has set record breaking numbers for admission inquiries, applications, campus visits and deposits.

Year-over-year deposits are indicators to Baylor on which students will enroll. Those deposits have increased by nearly 13-percent. Minority deposits have also increased 20 percent and international deposits were up by 5 percent. Out-of-state deposits have topped 30 percent for the first time in history.

"It is very clear that Baylor has become a popular choice for students who are, in record numbers, acting to ensure their spot in our incoming class," said Assistant Vice President of Admission Services Jennifer Carron in a statement released by the university.

"Our enrollment systems have been a bit overwhelmed by the volume of students paying deposits and entering our orientation process."

Visits to Baylor's campus also broke records. The university hosted 52,000 prospective students and family members in 2013. 35,000 toured the campus in 2010.

Completed student applications also rose by 19 percent from 2013.
