UPDATE: Driver Killed in Fatal Semi Collision with Amtrak Train Identified

(KCEN) -- The driver of the 18-wheeler truck who died after colliding with an Amtrak train in Temple, TX, has been identified as 58-year-old Randall Collier of Rogers.

Officials report an initial investigation shows the 18-wheeler had attempted to cross E. Ave. K going eastbound when it was struck by an Amtrak passenger train heading north.

There is a stop sign at the private crossing. There are no crossing arms at that location.

Collier was pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported from the 170 passengers on board the Amtrak train.

An investigation is being conducted by the Temple Police Department's Traffic Investigation Unit.




(KCEN) -- UPDATES: The train involved in the collision was an Amtrak passenger train heading to Ft. Worth with an ending destination of Chicago.

There are 170 passengers on board and they are currently being held on the train.

The driver of the 18-wheeler has been confirmed dead.

None of the passengers were injured.
