HOUSTON (KHOU)- A woman arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run on Houston’s southeast side appeared in probable cause court overnight.

Police believe Raquel Vazquez Hernandez, 23, fled the scene after a crash on Woodridge and the South Loop in southeast Houston early Saturday.

Hernandez ran a red light, hitting the victims' vehicle, witnesses told police.

Houston police said Hernandez and her passengers fled after the crash, which killed three people. She’s charged with four counts of failure to stop and render aid.

In court early Monday, Hernandez asked the judge to notify the Mexican Consulate about her arrest because she is a citizen of Mexico.

The judge denied Hernandez bond.

"With the nature of this one you're now looking at three people who have now lost their lives, three more people who have been injured in varying degrees," said Chief Prosecutor Alison Baimbridge. "That's enough to scare anybody. Because she didn't come forward on her own, that makes her more of a flight risk to me."

According to the victim's families, Allyssa Munoz and her brother, Brett Suarez died in the crash. A third person was also killed but hasn't yet been identified.

According to relatives, Munoz was a mother to a baby daughter.

"I just want everybody to know about Alyssa, she was a very loving mother," said Elsa Munoz, Allyssa's mother-in-law. "This was a cowardly act."

Several people were also injured in the crash, including Munoz's sister.

Two of the victims who died were children of members of the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department.

The department sent out a statement saying it would support the victim's families any way it can.
